Influencers who are your customers, email subscribers, and or followers are going to be excited to hear from a brand they love. A personal touch can help to create value in the relationship between an influencer and your brand.

Sending a personal note to an influencer directly from your email is a great way of kicking that relationship off. If you don't hear back from the influencer within a week, send them a DM on Instagram from your business account.

We recommend avoiding a long first message, the first step is to just gauge the influencer's interest. Here's a great example of how I've seen a couple of brands initiate the first contact :

"Hey there!

My name’s David and I’m the Social Media Director of Carro. I see that you’re a fan of our brand and your content caught our eye! I wanted to personally reach out to you to see if you wanted to work with us?

If you’re down, just reply to this email.

Looking forward to working with you,

David Rice"

Let them know that they've stood out, that you appreciate their work and creativity, without overwhelming them with collaboration details.

After the influencers shows their interest, start providing the details of the collaboration - what are you looking for from the influencer and what are you comfortable providing them in exchange?

At Carro, it’s not about creating one-time collaborations, it’s about creating long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with creatives who you appreciate and who love your brand!
